Police Investigating Death Of Recent Drexel Grad

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Investigators are looking into the death of a woman found Thursday in West Philadelphia.

Police say the victim -- identified as 27-year-old Jasmine Wright -- was found inside her apartment on the 200 block of South 50th Street with a head injury.

"She was in her third floor apartment in the front bedroom, laying on the bed," says Philadelphia Police Captain James Clarke. "It appears that she was severely beaten and possibly strangled."

She was pronounced dead just after 3:30 p.m.

Drexel officials confirm Wright was a 2015 Graduate of Drexel's School of Public Health. Neighbors, like Ketih Hooks,  say she kept to herself and never bothered anyone:

"It's hurting me just to know it's right next door and to happen to that person who didn't bother a soul."

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact police immediately as the investigation continues.
