Eagles Rank As 19th Most Valuable Sports Team, 7th In NFL

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Eagles are valued at 1.75 billion dollars, according to Forbes.com's top-50 most valuable sports teams list released on Wednesday morning. That makes Jeffrey Lurie's Birds the 19th most valuable sports team in the world.

The Eagles come in as the seventh NFL team on the list, behind the New York Jets (t-17th, $1.8 billion), the Houston Texans (16th, $1.85 billion), the New York Giants (12th, $2.1 billion), the Washington Redskins (t-9th, $2.4 billion), the New England Patriots (6th, $2.6 billion), and the Dallas Cowboys (t-2nd, $3.2 billion).

Amazingly, the Eagles are the least valuable team in the NFC East.

Across the street over at Citizens Bank Park is the Phillies, the second Philadelphia top-50 most valuable sports team valued at $1.25 billion.

The average worth among the 50 most valuable teams is $1.75 billion, up 31% from last year according to Forbes.com. The list includes 22 baseball and basketball franchises, 12 more than 2014.

The most valuable sports team, Real Madrid, is worth $3.26 billion.
