South Jersey Man Faces Cruelty Charges After Puppies Died In Hot Car
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A south Jersey man faces animal cruelty charges after investigators say puppies he left in the car died.
Authorities say Kevin Conquest left the puppies in a Mount Laurel parking lot while he worked on July 4th.
The puppies were a 4-month-old Husky and a 4-month-old Golden Retriever.
Authorities say when they arrived on the scene, the dogs, in an airline crate, were already dead.
"Do not leave dogs, any animals in the car," says Armand King, Burlington County Humane Police. "It doesn't matter if the air conditioning is running, the windows are down. You may get tied up in the store, wherever you are, and take you longer than you intended, but these animals actually cook from the inside. They die, it's a terrible, painful way for these dogs to succumb. And they should not be treated that way."
Conquest's court date is scheduled for next month.
