Married Couple Accused Of Stealing From Beachgoers' Bags At Jersey Shore

WILDWOOD, NJ (CBS) – Police say a husband and wife were arrested for allegedly stealing items from bags on a South Jersey beach.

Authorities say on July 4, police responded to 17th and Beach in North Wildwood for reports of a man and woman stealing possessions from bags on the beach.

As officers arrived, beachgoers flagged down police and said the accused female, Kelly Costanzo, was at 18th and Beach with her children.

Police say Costanzo was arrested and her three children, ages 12, 9 and 6, were taken to police headquarters.

Officials say her husband, Larry Hall, fled the area before police arrived.

Police say Hall was located at Lincoln and Ocean Avenues. Authorities say he was in possession of $500 cash and a cell phone that was allegedly stolen from the beach.

Hall and Costanzo, both of Philadelphia, were arrested and charged with child endangerment and theft, according to police.

Officials say bail was set at $35,000 on Hall and $25,000 on Costanzo.

Both were lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility unable to post bail.

Police say the children were placed in the custody of a relative.
