Police Arrest Suspect Who Shot Camden County Officer
COLLINGSWOOD, N.J. (CBS) – Police say they arrested the suspect Friday wanted for shooting a Camden County police officer a few days earlier.
Police tracked down 21-year-old Victor Bennett to an apartment in Collingswood. After a three-block foot chase, police arrested him on the 100 block of Wayne Street.
Bennett opened fire on a police vehicle Wednesday night, according to police, then fled the scene. An officer was struck in the arm by a bullet fragment.
Bennett has been charged with Criminal Attempted Murder among other charges. A $5,000 reward had been offered for his whereabouts.
Bail has been set at $1-million for the incident in Camden.
