Report: Ex-Flyer Mike Richards Questioned About Oxycontin At Canadian Border

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Earlier this week the Los Angeles Kings terminated the contract of Mike Richards for the "material breach of the requirements of his Standard Player's Contract."

According to TMZ and Paul Friesen of Sun Media, Richards was the subject of an Oxycontin (a pain-killer) investigation at the Emerson border crossing in Manitoba (into Canada) on June 17th.

Richards was expected to make an average of $5.75 million per year over the next five seasons.

"We are not prepared to provide any more detail or to discuss the underlying grounds for the contract termination at this time," the Kings said in a statement.
