Jahlil Okafor Headlines Both Sixers Summer League Rosters

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Summer League is almost here. For the past two off-seasons, the Sixers drafted players with their top pick that would not be ready to compete in their first NBA Summer League. In fact, Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel both missed entire rookie seasons.

This year, that is not the case. Fans will get to see the No. 3 overall pick, Jahlil Okafor, on the floor in Summer League action.

The Sixers announced the rosters for the two leagues that they will play in, the Utah Jazz Summer League and the Samsung NBA Summer League taking place in Las Vegas.

Mini-camps will be held prior to both leagues. The Sixers will hold their first one from July 2-5 to prepare for Utah which takes place from July 6-9.

The Utah roster includes Okafor, 2015 second round pick J.P. Tokoto, Sixers forward Furkan Aldemir, 2015 second round pick Richaun Holmes and Sixers forward Jerami Grant.

The remaining players are guard T.J. McConnell, guard Deonte Burton, guard Derrick Marks, guard Corey Hawkins, guard Chavaughn Lewis, forward Sam Thompson and center Jordan Railey.

Okafor will wear No. 8 when he debuts for the Sixers. That number belonged to his teammate Tony Wroten, but Wroten will be changing numbers this season. Okafor wore No. 15 at Duke, but that number is retired by the Sixers to honor Hal Greer.

While that team is in Utah, the Sixers will be holding another mini-camp in preparation for Las Vegas. The Samsung NBA Summer League runs from July 10-20.

Notables on that roster include Sixers G-F JaKarr Sampson, Sixers 2013 second round pick Arsalan Kazemi, Sixers 2014 second round pick Jordan McRae and Sixers 2013 second round pick Pierre Jackson. Okafor and McConnell will also play in Las Vegas, but will not be able to participate in the mini-camp.

The rest of the roster includes forward David Laury, guard Askia Booker, guard K.T. Harrell, forward Jamal Jones, forward Vince Hunter, center Charles Jackson and center Steve Zack.
