Giants Punter Steve Weatherford Rips Tebow, Sanchez, Bradford, And Kelly

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- They say, kickers should only speak when spoken to.

Well over the weekend, New York Giants veteran punter Steve Weatherford was certainly spoken to, appearing on WFAN. Weatherford, 32, took some low blows at one of his divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.

First, non other than the polarizing Tim Tebow.

"I'm the biggest Tim Tebow fan in the world," Weatherford said via CBS New York (listen here). "I mean, who wouldn't want their daughter to date a guy like that? I'll tell you want, I don't want him taking snaps for my team."

Next, the Eagles' other two quarterbacks.

"He's gonna give you more consistency [than Sam Bradford]," Weatherford said of Mark Sanchez. "OK, I'm gonna give you a Ferrari that maybe won't be running all the time, or you know what, I'm gonna give you a nice Cadillac sedan. It's not the fastest, but you know what you're going to get out of it. Mark Sanchez is a Cadillac. He's not super fast, he's not going to stop on a dime, you know what you're going to get out of him.

"Bradford can go from zero to 60 in three seconds, but you don't know if he's gonna start up some days. So it's gotta be frustrating for them. And I've heard rumors that they're trying to get an extension done with Bradford. I'm like, good luck with that."

And finally, the man in charge of all the personnel changes in Philly, head coach Chip Kelly.

"They've given him enough slack for him to hang himself," Weatherford said.

Eagles center Jason Kelce wasn't happy with Weatherford's comments. On Monday, Kelce tweeted, "Of course a player who is literally not allowed to be touched is talking [expletive]... Is interviewing punters a thing now?"

Weatherford and the Giants will face the Bradford, Sanchez, Tebow (maybe), Kelly, Kelce, and the Eagles in Philly---or should I say a "dump" as Weather called it in 2011---on Monday Night Football on October 19th.

As T.O. would say, 'Getchya popcorn ready.'
