Porter's Hot Takes: Hinkie, Porzingis, Silver, And Utley

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Here are my piping hot takes on some of the biggest sports stories of the week, whether you like it or not. I needed to get some things off my chest on this gloomy Friday in regards to Sam Hinkie, Kristaps Porzingis, Adam Silver, and Chase Utley.

Just did an hour podcast on last night's draft and still have no clue how I feel about Jahlil Okafor. It's like Jurassic World at "The Center!"

Love Okafor's game, but does he fit? Is a future trade of either Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel, or Okafor imminent? Or is Embiid never going to be healthy? My head is spinning, but I'll say this: Hinkie's deadline date is set for June 26th, 2016.

By this time next year, after all four of the Sixers' '16 first-round picks come to fruition and we see Okafor and hopefully Embiid for a season, I need results. I'm starting, for the first time, to lose my patience.

Oh, and by the way, I went to bed after the first round. I figured if Hinkie went to sleep, so should I.

Kristaps Porzingis booed

You knew whichever team drafted Porzingis, their respective fan base would be furious. Unfortunately for my boy Kristaps, he went to the team with the most fans in the building, the Knicks---and he got the (bleep) booed out of him.

My first thought: I felt bad for the dude.

My second thought: He's definitely going to be a star now. Fans are always wrong. And when they all seem to agree on something, it always goes the other way (see: McNabb, Donovan).

Adam Silver doin' the darn thang!

How good is Adam Silver?

Hold you applause, that was rhetorical.

The same way everyone hates Roger Goodell, everyone loves Adam Silver. And at last night's NBA Draft, Silver dazzled. First, his opening monologue commending the Golden State Warriors for their championship and specifically naming the players they have drafted was phenomenal. And then, his chilling tribute to the late-great Sixers' statistician Harvey Pollack.

Silver is killing it as NBA commissioner.

Leave Chase Utley alone

He was a great dog. The best dog, in fact. He won so many awards, including the ultimate prize once, and always gave his all. He loved his family and friends. But dogs don't live forever. So, can we let him go out with dignity, grace, and honor like he deserves?

I'll say this, if no one else will, thank you Chase. Thanks for everything.
