Report: Sixers 'Very Locked In' On Russell

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The majority of Philadelphia is in agreement. They want the Sixers to draft D'Angelo Russell. And apparently, the Sixers are on the same page as the fan base, something we haven't heard often.

Yahoo Sports' highly respect NBA analyst Adrian Wojnarowski says, "Philadelphia, my sources tell me, are very locked in on D'Angelo Russell as the third overall pick."

But what if Russell's not there at three? What if he goes to the Lakers at No. 2? According to ESPN's Jay Williams, that's certainly possible.

Wojnarowski called that report a possible "smoke screen," but even so, there is a silver lining in the Lakers drafting Russell.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst says the Celtics are willing to throw a big package at Philly for pick No. 3, if the Karl-Anthony Towns goes first and D'Angelo Russell goes second.

"If they [the Lakers] pass on Jahlil Okafor, which is something that the people in the league really think is a possibility, the 76ers at No. 3 have a number of huge offers that they can take from teams that want to jump in there and covet Jahlil Okafor very badly," Windhorst said Thursday morning on SportsCenter.

"At the top of that list being the Boston Celtics, who are willing to put together a mother lode to move up into that spot. Because the 76ers already have big men in their program, they would be interested in moving that pick, and that could set off a cascading series of events that could see all kinds of different trades in the lottery."
