Report: Chris Christie To Announce Presidential Run On Tuesday

By Alexandria Hoff

NEWARK, N.J. (CBS) -- Though the moment is not yet here, the notion is not new.

"I thought he was going to run last time, so it's not shocking to me. I know a lot of Republicans who are happy about it," said Erin McQuiggan.

She, like many others in New Jersey on Thursday, has just caught wind of Governor Chris Christie's expected presidential campaign announcement to come next week.

Mary Corden a Democrat and teacher says she would rather see Christie in her classroom over the Oval Office.

"I work for Camden. I just don't think he's interested in us. He thinks that we are babysitters and we are not," she said.

Jan Wieczerzac has more confidence in the right-wing leader who has governed a traditionally blue state, while doing business with a democratic legislature.

"He's certainly willing to say what he thinks. It gets him in trouble frequently, but it's certainly something I think we need," said Wieczerzac, "Someone who can step up and say 'It ain't right. Let's fix it.'"

Christie's bold persona has worked with and against him; earning support from fiscal conservatives and less from the sectors that have felt cuts.

Theresa Davis is a New Yorker who has watched New Jersey politics from across the Hudson, despite the vantage point she says her view of Christie's presidential potential is still not crystal clear.

"You know what? I'm on the fence," she said, "I want to see who's lined up and who we have to choose from."
