Local Baseball Coach Accused Of Ripping Off Youth Team

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- A baseball coach is accused of ripping off his Bucks County youth team.

Prosecutors say Shaun Pugh, of Burlington Township, failed to cover more than $20,000 in expenses for a trip to Atlanta last month.

The alleged scheme unraveled when the "Throwbacks" team arrived at the airport and realized no tickets or hotel rooms had been booked.

Prosecutors say each parent gave Pugh between 2,000-3,000 dollars to cover the costs of the trip.

Pugh is charged with theft.

TSE Baseball gave the following statement regarding Pugh's arrest: 'It is unfortunate what happened to the funds that were intended for the Throwbacks baseball team. The TSE League does not manage the team or the funds collected for each individual team as the coaches are responsible for determining the participation fees of their players and scheduling out of state tournaments.  The TSE organization does not condone this type of behavior and are very disappointed to hear that a coach in the TSE League may be involved in these deceitful tactics.'
