Weather: A Hot Start To Summer

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Monday is the first full day of summer, and it is going to feel like it!

Philadelphia will see the second day of it's first potential heat wave of 2015, with another day reaching 90°.

Fortunately, humidity levels will be low, so it will be more of a dry, comfortable warmth than anything else.

Unfortunately, the humidity will return tomorrow, and so will the threat of rain. Although it will be a mainly sunny day, thunderstorms will fire up in the afternoon as a cold front cross the region. Some of these may turn severe, packing heavy downpours, gusty winds, and small hail. The threat for tornadic activity will be extremely low, but they are possible anytime there is severe weather and atmospheric conditions are just right.

Once the front passes, Wednesday will be another sunny day. It will be slightly cooler, relatively speaking, topping out in the upper 80s. Summer is surely upon us!
