Porter's Hot Takes: Hamels Jokes, Sixers Uni's, Dez Cries, And Finals MVP

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Here are my piping hot takes on some of the biggest sports stories of the week, whether you like it or not.

I'm going to internet yell about Cole Hamles, Dez Bryant, the Finals MVP, and the Sixers' new uniforms.

Cole Hamels plays a dumb joke

On Thursday, after the Phillies announced that Hamels will miss he scheduled start Friday night due to a mild right hamstring strain, Hamels thought it would be funny to empty his locker and trick reporters into thinking he was traded. Hilarious, Cole. Hilarious.

See, Hamels is the No. 1 trade piece for the Phillies and is almost certainly going to be traded by the deadline, so this "joke" isn't really a joke. It's like you telling your girlfriend we're breaking up, then you say just kidding, and then you actually break up with her a month later (don't try this at home).

Ha...ha...?

Dez Bryant is the worst

We all know Dez Bryant's contract situation by now. The Cowboys franchised him. Meaning, he makes $13 million this season, but nothing is certain after this year. Bryant has not reported to mandatory mini-camp and on Wednesday, tweeted this thoughtful tweet:

I would rather have any other receiver in football on the Eagles than Dez Bryant. I'm not even kidding. I would hate to have to root for this guy. Twitter bro, really? You make $13 million and you're crying about your contract on Twitter. He's Terrell Owens 2.0. The talent isn't worth the personality.

New Sixers' Uni's!

HOT!

Crisp. Cool. Clean. Fresh. With tradition. What's not to love about these? Now, can Joel Embiid starting playing? No, seriously. Can he?

Iggy Wins Finals MVP

Andre Iguodala
CLEVELAND, OH - JUNE 16: Andre Iguodala #9 of the Golden State Warriors looks over the NBA Trophy after winning game Six against the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Quicken Loans Arena During Game Six of the 2015 NBA Finals on June 16, 2015 in Cleveland,Ohio NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and/or using this Photograph, user is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement. Good for him. Andre Iguodala is one of the most underrated players in the NBA, one of the most underrated Philadelphia athletes ever, and actually is creating a Hall Of Fame case that isn't as unfathomable as you probably think.

But if we're being honest here, we all know LeBron James was the "most valuable player" of the Finals. LeBron averaged an insane 35.8 points, 13.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists and had a usage rate of 40.8 percent (James' career 31.7 percent usage rate is the sixth highest in league history).

According to this ESPN.com piece, the players around LeBron had an aggregate individual winning percentage of .465, the lowest of any supporting cast of the past 31 Finals.

Forget the 2015 Finals MVP, LeBron James was the most valuable player to his team in any Finals ever. EVER.
