Investigation Continues Into 3-Alarm Fire In West Chester
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) – A three-alarm fire is under investigation in West Chester.
The three-story office building at 10 North Church Street caught fire around 9:30 p.m. on Monday. It took more than 140 firefighters to get that fire under control before midnight.
The search for hot spots went well into the overnight hours, with firefighters carefully canvassing for potential flare-ups after the large fire.
Eyewitness News' Justin Finch says he was allowed to enter the building early Tuesday morning, where he saw plenty of water damage.
"I hope they can restore it somehow," Lauren Keenan, who was at a nearby pizza shop when the fire started, says.
"It's very upsetting," agrees Jerry Sopp, the CFO of DNB First Bank, which occupied part of the building. "We put a lot of money into this building…it's a symbol for the area, and we're disappointed to see this happen."
Crews will be on scene cleaning up the area through Tuesday, and Church Street between Market and Gay will be closed.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, and there is no official word on the cause.
