Eagles Add Offensive Lineman Jared Wheeler

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles announced the signing of Jared Wheeler on Monday afternoon. The deal is for one year.

The move follows the release of All-Pro guard Evan Mathis.

Wheeler was signed as a rookie free agent in 2014 by the Panthers. He was waived by Carolina and signed on with the Bills before training camp. He was cut by Buffalo following the last preseason game and signed on with the Seahawks following the season and was released before the draft.

Prior to that he played at the University of Miami where he was recruited by Jeff Stoutland, the Eagles current offensive line coach.

During his college career, Wheeler suited up at both guard positions and also played center.
