Union Look To Continue Surge Saturday Vs. NYCFC

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Union will look to continue what has been their best stretch of soccer of the season on Saturday night as they welcome expansion New York City FC to Chester.

Philadelphia has gone 3-1-0 over its last four matches. Last time out on Wednesday they dominated visiting Columbus, 3-0, as C.J. Sapong, Vincent Nogueira and Sebastien Le Toux all found the back of the net and Brian Sylvestre earned the shutout in net.

This surge has improved Philadelphia to 4-8-3 on the season and with 15 points they currently sit in sixth place in the ten-team Eastern Conference.

NYCFC has struggled in its inaugural MLS season. They have the fewest points in the league (8) thanks to a 1-7-5 mark.

This will be the third meeting between these two teams this season. On April 11th, the Union picked up a 2-1 win in Chester. Just days later, on April 16th, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw at Yankee Stadium.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Union TV analyst Peter Pappas about Philadelphia's improved play as of late and the match-up with NYCFC.
