Soul Look To Stay Sharp Against New Orleans

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Soul will look to keep the train rolling on Saturday night when they welcome the New Orleans VooDoo to the Center.

Philadelphia improved to 9-1 last weekend with a 51-43 victory over Las Vegas in a game played down in Atlantic City.

"We came out a little flat,"Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "With the whole beating Tampa (71-27 the previous week), you always fear it when you smash somebody the week before and you think you're supposed to smash this team, you come out a little flat. And we did. Being down at halftime (21-17), there was no reason for that. We didn't make plays on any side of the ball. Second half we came out with a little fire under us and put them away."

Philadelphia enjoys a four-game lead right now for first-place in the Eastern Division over 5-5 Cleveland.

One of the Soul's nine victories came against the VooDoo. Back on April 26th they traveled down to New Orleans and beat the VooDoo, 55-42. That was one of many tough nights for New Orleans this season. They bring a 2-8 record into South Philadelphia, but Dolezel says they can still cause problems.

"They kind of do what we do with (fullback) Joe Goosby," Dolezel says. "They've got a fullback that is a lighter weight guy, they use him for a lot of screens and gadgets, what we've done the last couple weeks. So we've got to take that away. Besides that, it's just x's and o's and go and execute for us."

The Soul and the VooDoo kickoff at 6:00pm on Saturday night.
