Authorities: Truck Theft Ring Stole $1.5M Over 3-year Period
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey authorities have indicted what they say is a ring of truck thieves that stole $1.5 million worth of goods in three years.
Bedding, bicycle parts, perfume and fish oil supplements were some of the items the 12-man ring allegedly stole from tractor-trailers in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The goods were allegedly stored at locations including a warehouse in Saddle Brook and a furniture store in Hillside.
Acting Attorney General John Hoffman said Friday the group members hail from northern New Jersey and New York. They face charges including conspiracy, money laundering, theft, fencing and burglary.
Additional goods recovered included $120,000 worth of catalytic converters and more than $23,000 worth of Guinness Stout beer.
The defendants will be arraigned in Bergen County at a later date.
