Philly Soccer Show: Uproar on the World Stage

By Greg Orlandini

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS) -- If it's happening in the soccer world, we are talking about it on the KYW Philly Soccer Show!

KYW's Greg Orlandini is joined this week by Eli Pearlman-Storch and Mike Servedio from the Philly Soccer Page.

First, we tackle the biggest story in the sport: the resignation of FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

Blatter, who ran soccer's governing body for 17 years, leaves his position as clouds of corruption engulf FIFA.  In today's show we discuss where the sport goes from here, with this shift in leadership.

Then we preview the Women's World Cup, which kicks off this week in Canada.  The USA open the tournament on Monday against Australia.

Finally, we wrap up with the Union, which looked close to earning a point in Washington on Saturday, only to see it slip away, after some questionable refereeing led to a 2-1 loss against DC United.

They get right back at it tonight against the Columbus Crew, tonight at PPL Park.
