Phillies Open Series With Reds Behind O'Sullivan
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies will look to snap a seven-game losing streak tonight as they open a three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds at Citizens Bank Park.
This season-long losing streak has dropped the Phillies record to 19-33 for the season and they are back in last place in National League East.
The Reds come to town in fourth place in National league Central with a 22-27 mark, but they are playing pretty good baseball right now after sweeping a three-game series from the Washington Nationals.
Sean O'Sullivan will get the start for the Phillies in this series opener. The veteran right-hander is 1-4 this season with a 4.81 ERA. For the most part he has been solid here in 2015, but he got hammered in his last start, last week against the Mets. In 5 2/3 innings of work he allowed 7 runs on 11 hits, including 4 home runs, in 5 2/3 innings in a 7-0 loss in New York.
The Reds counter on the mound with right-hander Johnny Cueto who is 3-4 with a 3.03 ERA. He last pitched on May 19th as he missed his last start with an elbow issue. Cueto is 1-4 in 8 career starts against the Phillies with a 5.52 ERA.
Here is the line-up tonight for the Phillies against Cueto:
1. RF Ben Revere
2. SS Freddy Galvis
3. 2B Chase Utley
4. 1B Ryan Howard
5. 3B Maikel Franco
6. LF Cody Asche
7. CF Odubel Herrera
8. C Carlos Ruiz
9. P Sean O'Sullivan
