Phillies Release Outfielder Grady Sizemore

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Monday, the Phillies announced that the team has released outfielder Grady Sizemore. The move comes just days after Sizemore was designated for assignment by the team to make room for the call-up of Cody Asche.

Sizemore appeared in 39 games this season for the Phillies. He hit .245 with five doubles and six RBIs.

Sizemore played both corner outfield spots for the Phillies, but time in the lineup would have been scarce following Asche's recent switch from third base to left field.
