Police Investigate Fatal Crash In Delaware

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) - Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Friday morning in New Castle.

The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on the 800 block of Cox Neck Road.

Police say 66-year-old Richard H. Murray, of Dover, was operating a 2014 Ford F-150 when his vehicle drifted off the south side of the road and struck a traffic signal box and an embankment. The truck then went airborne and struck a tree before overturning and landing on its roof.

A passerby reportedly saw the crashed vehicle with its headlights on and reported it. Murray was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cox Neck Road is open, but traffic is expected to move slowly while police continue their investigation.
