Police Could Be Closing In On South Philly Sex Predator

By Justin Finch

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police are making some major headway in the investigation into a sexual assault and attack in Point Breeze earlier this week.

A woman has come forward saying she believes the man police are looking for is her son.

Police already have close-up images of their believed suspect thanks to surveillance images released Thursday. They are looking for a black male, between 6'0 and 6'2 with a medium build.

There's also a video of the suspect moving a car early Monday morning. It is believed the man first got inside the victim's home, then got keys to her car and moved that car, and then returned to that home to carry out an assault.

On Thursday afternoon, police searched the home on the 1300 block of Chadwick Street. This is the same block where the suspect moved the car seen in the surveillance video. It is also not far from the attack that happened on Monday on the 1800 block of Rosewood Street.

After the search, CBS 3 Eyewitness News spoke to the woman who said she knows the man police are looking for and she is asking him to surrender.

In March, there was another attack in that area on Chadwick Street. In both cases, the suspect has a similar description and both victims say they saw their attacker wearing red gloves.

A $10,000 reward has been offered. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
