Phillies Continue Series In New York Against The Mets

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies will look to get back on the winning track tonight as they continue their series in New York against the Mets.

The Phils have lost four of their last five after dropping a 6-3 decision yesterday in the series opener between the two teams. Justin De Fratus served up a three-run home run to Wilmer Flores in the sixth inning yesterday and that snapped a 3-3 tie and New York never looked back.

Jerome Williams will get the start tonight for the Phillies. Been a struggle for the veteran right-hander this season.  He is 3-4 in 9 starts with an ERA of 5.44 and in 48 innings of work he has allowed 65 hits. Last time he lost to Colorado, 7-3, giving up 5 runs in 5 innings of work.

This will be his second start against the Mets this season. The first was back on April 15th as he allowed 5 runs (4 earned) in 5 innings, taking a 6-1 loss.

New York counters with right-hander Jacob deGrom. The 25-year-old right-hander is 5-4 with a 2.75 ERA and he is coming off his best start of the season. On Thursday, he pitched 8 shutout, one-hit innings against the Cardinals, striking out 11 with nary a walk, winning 5-0.  He retired the final 23 batters he faced in that game.

deGrom defeated the Phillies in his only start against them this season, pitching 6 1/3 shutout innings back on April 13th, winning 2-0. In 3 career starts against the Phillies, deGrom is 2-0 with a 1.37 ERA.

Here is the lineup tonight for the Phillies vs. deGrom:

1. LF Ben Revere
2. SS Freddy Galvis
3. 2B Chase Utley
4. 1B Ryan Howard
5. 3B Maikel Franco
6. RF Grady Sizemore
7. CF Odubel Herrera
8. C Carlos Ruiz
9. P Jerome Williams
