Soul In Tampa, Looking To Bounce Back From First Loss

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Soul will visit the Tampa Bay Storm on Saturday night and for the first time this season they will be looking to bounce back from a loss.

The Soul fell to 7-1 last weekend with a 55-47 loss on the road to the Jacksonville Sharks.

"We had a lot go wrong in that game as far as injuries and we just didn't make a lot of plays when we needed to," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "We had a lot of opportunities to go ahead and take a big lead on them and couldn't get it done."

Turnovers plagued the Soul in that game as they finished minus-3.  Dolezel says his team hasn't let the loss linger.

"You couldn't tell much different in our practices this week with a win or a loss and I think that's the great thing about these guys," Dolezel says. "They come with their hard hats on every week."

Despite the defeat, Philadelphia remains in first place in the Arena Football League's Eastern Division, two games ahead of second place Cleveland. On Saturday night they will be facing a Tampa Bay team that is 3-4. The Storm are very tough defensively, in fact they are second in the AFL in points allowed per game at 44.3

"They're right behind San Jose (who allows 34.9)," Dolezel says. "They do a great job of getting after the quarterback and they make a lot of plays in the secondary. They do some things that are kind of unsound, but those unsound things, they are getting them a lot of turnovers. We've got to be careful with them a little bit, but there's some things we think we can attack."

Philadelphia and Tampa Bay kickoff at 7:30pm on Saturday.
