Phillies Wrap Up Series In Colorado Today

By Matt Leon

The Phillies will look to stay hot this afternoon as they wrap-up their four-game series with Colorado out in Denver.

The Phillies have won seven of eight, including two of the first three in this series. Last night the Phillies got five strong innings from rookie RHP Severino Gonzalez and three hits, including a long home run, from Ryan Howard in a 4-2 victory.

Today it will be right-hander Jerome Williams starting on the mound for the Phillies. He is 3-3 this season with a 5.02 ERA. He beat Arizona in his last start with five solid innings of work in a 7-5 Phillies win. Williams is 1-0 in 4 career appearances against Colorado (3 starts) with a 3.60 ERA.

The Rockies go with lefty Jorge De La Rosa in this one. He is 1-2 in 5 starts this season with a 6.56 ERA. He has struggled with the Phillies in his career, going 2-4 in 9 appearances (7 starts) with a 5.67 ERA.  However, he has pitched his best baseball against the Phillies of late, going 2-1 in his last 3 starts with a 1.77 ERA.

This Phillies surge has improved their record to 18-24. They currently sit in fourth place in National League East, 6 1/2 games behind first place Washington.

Here is the Phillies lineup today against De La Rosa:

1. SS Freddy Galvis

2. 2B Chase Utley

3. LF Darin Ruf

4. 1B Ryan Howard

5. 3B Maikel Franco

6. RF Jeff Francoeur
