Philadelphia DA: Officials Are Ready To Handle Any Improper Voting Activity

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams says officials are ready to handle any improper voting activity today.

"We will have more than 60 assistant district attorneys and several dozen county detectives ready to answer calls on our hotline," Williams says.

The hotline numbers are 215-686-9641, 43 and 44.

Williams says the kind of irregularities which voters should look out for include, "Notaries notarizing documents improperly, forgeries, election officials voting illegally, election officials not registered to work in the divisions where they are working, and campaigning in the polling place. Often that is the one we hear most frequently," Williams said.

He explains those working for a candidate have certain rules which they must follow, and some things they should not be doing.

"People standing too close to the polling booths, people taking individuals in under the guise of assisting them but actually voting on their behalf, people wearing campaign t-shirts, or handing out campaign paraphernalia inside the polling place itself," Williams explained.
