Camden County Restaurant Worker Tests Positive For Hepatitis A

VOORHEES, NJ (CBS) – Officials in Camden County were notified an employee of a Voorhees restaurant has tested positive for Hepatitis A.

Officials say a server at Iron Hill in Camden County was confirmed to have Hepatitis A.

The Camden County Health Department says it took swift actions to vaccinate the other employees to protect them and eliminate the threat of spreading the disease.

Officials say the employee had limited direct contact with food and the case poses little to no risk to the public.

"As a department I want to commend the quick and proactive measures taken by our public health professionals," said Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Health Department. "Furthermore, the health of the community was the number one concern for our personnel in responding to this situation and they have done excellent job of addressing this challenging situation."

On May 8, the Burlington County resident went to Virtua Hospital in Marlton suffering from intermittent flu like symptoms.

Laboratory results confirmed a Hepatitis A diagnosis. The server has not been back to work.

Officials say the restaurant owner reported the incident to the Health Department and is working in full cooperation to address the situation.
