Pa. Turnpike Reopens After Accident In Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa., (CBS) -- All lanes on the Pennsylvania Turnpike are now reopen after they were shutdown following an accident in Montgomery County.

The accident was reported Wednesday on I-276 WB at milepost 339, between Fort Washington and Virginia Dr.

A Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission spokesperson says three commercial vehicles and a pick-up truck were involved in the accident.

According to the spokesperson, the accident occurred when a trash truck struck the overpass at milepost 338.9 ( Camp Hill Road).

The spokesperson says the other vehicles struck debris, with one tractor trailer overturning and blocking the east and westbound lanes.

A bridge inspector is en route to check the structure for damages.

The spokesperson says the driver of the overturned commercial vehicle was taken to a local hospital.  There is no word on the driver's condition at this time.

All construction activities on the Turnpike were suspended and the Turnpike was closed and detoured between exits 339 and 343.
