Amtrak Derailment Survivor: 'Someone Told Me I'd Been Delirious And That They Had Carried Me Off'

By Chelsea Karnash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – As investigators begin looking into the cause of the deadly Amtrak derailment, survivors are speaking out about their harrowing experiences.

Eyewitness News spoke to one passenger, Rebecca Bibb, who says she was on the third train car from the back at the time of the accident.

"I don't remember anything. I did not hear any noise, did not see anything. When I started hearing people, I was on the side [of the crash scene], and someone told me I'd been delirious and that they had carried me off," a visibly distraught Bibb recalled. "The shoes, my shoes – are not my shoes. I lost my shoes. A lady gave me my shoes."

Another passenger with the Instagram handle yameenallworld posted a video of the derailment scene along with the caption "my train crashed."

In that video, you can hear him instructing a man to "crawl forward, sir" and another person saying, "I got you," to someone who seems to be crying.

In a second video from yameenallworld, he shows his bruised and bloodied legs, saying, "My injuries," while people yell in the background.

Earlier, a mother and son who also managed to make it off the train safely told Nicole Brewer that they remembered a "huge, red suitcase" coming flying at them.

"Our train was actually on its side, so it pushed me onto the side of the train," the woman said, before telling Eyewitness News she was a nurse.

"I tried to help as best I could," she said. "There are many many injured people on that train, and they're very very upset."

Several people are in critical condition and seven people were reported dead. More than 140 were injured.

Cadaver dogs remain on scene searching for bodies.
