Phillies Open Four-Game Series With Pirates Tonight At CBP
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies will continue their homestand tonight as they open a four-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies are now 11-21 for the season after losing two out of three over the weekend to the New York Mets, capping the series with a 7-4 loss to the Mets on Sunday.
Jerome Williams gets the start for the Phillies tonight on the mound. The veteran right-hander is 2-2 in 6 starts this season with a 5.18 ERA. Williams is just 1-4 in 6 career starts against the Pirates, with a 4.37 ERA. His only win against Pittsburgh came back in 2005.
The Pirates will counter with right-hander Gerrit Cole. One of the best young pitchers in baseball, the 24-year-old Cole is off to a 4-1 start here in 2015 with a 2.27 ERA.
Pittsburgh brings a 15-16 record into tonight's series opener.
Last season the Phillies went just 1-6 against Pittsburgh.
