Nelson Agholor Displaying Early Patience With Eagles

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's easy to start to picture the future when you're selected high in the NFL Draft. It would be understandable for first round picks to picture themselves as "the guy," right away with all the interviews, press conferences and requests for their time.

While all of those things may make a player feel like "the guy," that will not be the case until the work is put in.

That is something that Eagles first round pick Nelson Agholor seems very well aware of. He sounds confident when it comes to his ability to be a number one option in the NFL, but he is not at all concerning himself with making an immediate impact just yet.

"That's not the conversation right now," Agholor said of making an immediate impact in the Eagles' offense when rookies met the media on Friday. "The conversation is about me getting better. When Week 1 comes, I think that'll be an easier conversation for us to have, but right now it's all about me trying to find myself."

Agholor is displaying a quiet confidence and an inner belief in himself that will aid him greatly as he looks to get better each day. His patience when it comes to putting off the notion of him being "the guy," is not for lack of wanting it.

Do not be mistaken. He wants the ball.

"I wanted to go wherever the ball was going to go," Agholor said regarding his preference in college to play on the inside or the outside.

From his early interactions, it is clear Agholor wants that moment to come where he is a top contributor at the receiver position for the Eagles. However, he is not going to get ahead of himself.

He will become "the guy," by taking it one day at a time.
