The Mother's Day tradition began at the Philadelphia Museum of Art/ Eakins Oval with the opening ceremonies at 7 a.m. and thousands of survivors marched down the iconic Art Museum steps for the emotional parade of survivors.

"I started from the bottom and now I'm here," said one woman marching down the steps. "I used to walk for my grandmom, my aunt and now I'm up on the steps."

A 5K run/walk followed at 8:15 a.m. with the first runners crossing the finish line at about 8:31 a.m.

Molly, the first female to cross the finish line, has been running the race for 10 years.

"We do it, actually, for my grandmother who battled breast cancer for 18 years and she lost that fight two years ago," said Molly. "We do this in honor of her every year."

There are so many stories like Molly's. Running in memory of loved one - taken too soon. Family and friends running in support of the cause. Running for hope.
