Mother's Day Weekend Plant Sales

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Plant sales this weekend conveniently coincide with Mother's Day and the middle of May which is usually the 'last frost' date for most of our area – so let's hope that holds true this year and we can get things in the ground!

These sales give you a chance to gather great plants for your garden, support area arboretums, and pick up something to remember Mom too.

The Morris Arboretum and Bartram's Garden sales both have member's previews on Friday - you're welcome to show up and join on the spot.

Then, they are both open to everyone on Saturday and the Bartram's Garden sale continues through Sunday – here's their plant list and you can even take a Mother's Day boat trip there from the Walnut Street Dock.

If you'd rather swap plants than buy them, just pot up and label some lovely non-invasive plants from your own garden and bring them to the Henry Schmieder Arboretum at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, PA on Tuesday, May 12th for their annual Plant Swap that begins promptly at 6 pm and runs until 8 pm.
