Excitement Builds For 'Fight Of The Century'

By Andrew Kramer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The much-anticipated Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight has finally arrived, but boxing fans in Philadelphia are split as to whether or not it will live up to all the hype.

Regardless, the excitement for what many are calling "The Fight of the Century" continues to build.

"I've been waiting for this since, what, 2003 maybe? It's been about 10 years in the making now," says boxing fan Jay.

He says even though both fighters are no longer in their prime, he's still looking forward to the bout:

"You know, both guys are on the downside of their careers and honestly I don't see anybody with any knockout power, out of either one of them, but it should be a good fight."

A good fight is likely, but will it live up to all the build? David thinks so:

"I think it's going to be a very exciting fight, you know, it's been a long time coming, everybody is waiting for it."

Darrel, on the other hand, disagrees:

"It's not going to build up like everybody thinks it's going to be, Pacquiao doesn't have that killer instinct anymore."

While most people who spoke with KYW Newsradio say they hope to watch the fight one way or another, Michael says he'll wait:

"No I'll watch it next week when it comes on Showtime or HBO. It's not worth it for me."

Another debate that has drawn mixed opinions among people who spoke with KYW Newsradio is who will win:

"I think Pacquiao is going to take the fight to be honest with you."

"I predict Mayweather to win by decision."

"I like Pacquiao in 7."

"I'm going with Mayweather in the 6th or 7th round."

And Michael adds since both fighters will be walking away with such a large amount of money, there really won't be any true loser.
