Local Jewish Newspaper Celebrates Decade Of Community News

By Cherri Gregg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Jewish Voice -- a free, online community newspaper -- is celebrating its 10th anniversary tonight.

It is a non-profit, volunteer-run newspaper promoting diverse voices in the Jewish community.

"There are a lot of different opinions in the Jewish community, just as there are in the general community," explains Bonnie Squires, the paper's society editor.

Squires is also on the board of directors. She says funding is not subscription-based. Instead they rely solely on donations, and they're vision is "to attract a secure funding base and expand what we do."

Squires says founder Dan Loeb splits his time between Philadelphia and Israel, which means they have a broad readership:

"People around the world are listening to us and communicating with us."

The Philadelphia Jewish Voice will celebrate the milestone with a private fundraiser tonight.
