La Salle Students Use Yoga To Battle Finals Stress

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A La Salle junior is helping her classmates beat the stress of finals week by stretching their bodies and calming their minds with yoga.

Rows of colorful yoga mats cover a section of the lawn inside the quad on La Salle's campus Wednesday. Soothing music plays while students listen to the commands of Kristina Migaleddi (black shirt in photo above), a nursing student who spends a lot of her time teaching yoga.

"It's a moment that you get to forget about what's going on around you," she tells KYW Newsradio. "You're in your own practice. It's your mat. It's your space."

Psychology major Gabrielle Cappelli says she's ready to tackle her exams:

"It takes you out of the work environment where there's so much more stress and just clears everything."

Migaleddi encourages anyone to give yoga a try if they're feeling stressed out.
