Montgomery County Man Pleads Guilty To Murdering Father, Dumping Body In Poconos

By Jim Melwert

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A Plymouth Township man pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court Wednesday to killing his elderly father, by hitting him in the head with a flashlight, and then getting his son's help in dumping the body in the Poconos.

David St. Onge, Senior pleaded guilty to third degree murder, abuse of a corpse and fraud charges, and was sentenced to 15-35 years in state prison.

St. Onge admitted in court to hitting his 88-year-old father, Jack St. Onge, with a metal flashlight. He then had his son help him dump the body in Susquehanna County. He also admitted using the dead man's credit cards, racking up more than $15,000.

Assistant District Attorney Lauren McNulty says their family members felt this was a good resolution.

"The district attorney's office reached out to the victim's family, who, in this case, is also the defendant's family, and everyone thought this was a good resolution to this case," says McNulty. "Mostly I believe the family wanted him to admit what he did. And that's what they got today."

St. Onge lived with his father, and his attorney, Benjamin Cooper, says the two were arguing because his father was trying to throw him out of the home:

"He was getting removed from the house by his father, and he just lost his way there for a few seconds and it cost him a lot. Up until then he'd never done anything like that."

His son, David St. Onge, Junior, had previously pleaded guilty to abuse of corpse.
