Severino Gonzalez To Make MLB Debut Tonight For Phillies in St. Louis

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Phillies will look for a third-straight win tonight as they continue their series with the Cardinals.

Fans will get a look at a young Phillies pitcher in this one as 22-year-old right-hander Severino Gonzalez makes his Major League debut.

Gonzalez had made three starts at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season, going 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA. In 17.2 innings, he has struck out nine and walked just two batters. Control is a constant with Gonzalez. In more than 415 minor league innings of work in his career, he was walked just 67 batters.

In 2014, Gonzalez spent the entire season with Double-A Reading, going 9-13 with a 4.59 ERA in 27 starts.
