Cops: 14-Year-Old Faces Murder Charge In Connection With Death Of Delivery Man In NE Philadelphia

By Steve Tawa

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two juveniles face charges in connection with last week's murder of a food delivery driver, who was gunned down while dropping off an order in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police say 49-year old Rendong Zheng, of North Philadelphia, was delivering food to the Hill Creek Apartments in the Crescentville section of the city, and was shot and killed during an attempted robbery.

Police responded to a report of gunshots, and upon arrival, fire department personnel responded to a nearby one car accident, across from the housing complex, at 500 Adams Avenue.

Investigators say the victim sustained a gunshot wound, but drove a short distance and crashed.

Twelve shell casings were found nearby.

Now, police say two teenagers who live in the same complex are being charged as adults.

Police say 14-year-old Sahmir Walker is charged with murder, robbery, criminal conspiracy and related offenses. Authorities say 15-year-old Tyquail Duffy has been charged with aggravated assault, intimidation, terroristic threats, violation of the uniform firearms act and related offenses.

The victim worked for the New China restaurant on Rising Sun Avenue.
