Soul Head To The Bayou Looking For 5-0 Start

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Philadelphia Soul have emerged through the first four games of the 2015 Arena Football League season as one of the teams to beat.

The Soul improved to 4-0 on Saturday night with a 63-48 win over Cleveland. This one had to feel good for Philadelphia since they lost all three games (including a playoff match-up) to Cleveland last season by a combined total of just five points.

"In the second half we stepped up all three levels of the game," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "So I'm interested to see if we can come out and start a game that way and finish a game like that. The old adage of you don't want to peak to early, well, I'd like to start seeing signs of it. I think we're getting close, but we're not there yet, which is a good thing. We're 4-0 and we're not playing our best football yet."

Philadelphia is one of just two undefeated AFL teams (San Jose is the other) and on Sunday they visit the 1-3 New Orleans VooDoo. New Orleans won its opener against Jacksonville, but it has been downhill since then. Dolezel is aware that this lines up as a potential trap game for his team.

"It is," Dolezel says. "You see it all the time, after you play a big game, a big rivalry game and you play a team that's supposedly not playing well. They've had a lot of injuries. You don't want to go out there and come out flat and let them stay in the game and let them think they have chance."

New Orleans averages just over 37 points a game and that is last in the AFL. Last week they scored just 13 in a loss at Tampa Bay. Dolezel talks about making sure the VooDoo don't break out on Sunday.

"If we can get in there and put pressure on the young quarterback," Dolezel says. "We don't know who's going to play, their starter (Adam Kennedy) got hurt down towards the end of the game (last week). It doesn't matter, it's just about what we do and if we can get after them we'll be good."

Philadelphia and New Orleans will kickoff at 4:00pm on Saturday.
