Phillies Go For Two Straight Against The Marlins Tonight

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Phillies will try to win back-to-back games for just the second time this season (first was April 10th & 11th against Washington) as they continue their series with the Miami Marlins.

The Phils picked up a 7-3 win last night in this series opener, the seven runs representing their highest single game total of the season. Freddy Galvis and Ryan Howard led the way at the plate, each hitting a two-run home run.

Cole Hamels will get the start for the Phillies tonight. The veteran left-hander is 0-2 in three starts this season with a 5.00 ERA. Last time out against Washington on Thursday, Hamels allowed five runs in six innings of work, taking a 5-2 loss.

Hamels is just 9-14 in his career against the Marlins, but he has a very good ERA of 3.17 against them.

His mound opponent will be right-hander Jarred Cosart who is 0-1 in two starts here in 2015 with a 4.76 ERA. Cosart was drafted by the Phillies in 2008 and traded to Houston in 2011 in the Hunter Pence deal. The Astros traded him to Miami at the deadline last season.
