Supper: Bacon Babka, $12.96

For some reason, this South Street dining room reminds me of a place Jerry Seinfeld would bring Morty and Helen. In fact, a sign notes that it won some award as "the best place to take your parents." Regardless, I know my Dad would enjoy the this item, which is really a dessert posing as a brunchy main course.
The bacon babka is a two-inch deep yeasty bread, twice baked baked into a custardy, vanilla-and-brown-sugar tinged item that looks and tastes a lot like French toast. It's topped with a half-dozen slices of thick-cut bacon and topped by powdered sugar.
Nothing special, nothing unique. And sweet enough that you might want to split an order of the bacon bake and, perhaps, an omelet. Bring your parents, and share with them.
