Police Open Fire On Armed Suspect In Frankford

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia Police shot a man they say was armed with two guns late Thursday night in the Frankford section of the city.

Officers were responding to a call of shots fired just before midnight and found a large crowd gathered along the 1600 block of Pratt Street, near the Frankford Transportation Center. The armed suspect took off running when police arrived.

Police caught up with him and ordered him to drop his weapon. He refused and was shot once in the leg. Police say the suspect did not return fire.

The suspect was carrying two guns, according to police, including a Glock with an extended magazine that holds over 30 bullets. He is in stable condition.

No officers were hurt during the incident and no other injuries were reported.

The initial shooting police were responding to remains under investigation.
