Delaware's Nick Boyle A Rising NFL Draft Prospect

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The NFL Draft is quickly approaching and that makes these very exciting days for Delaware product Nick Boyle.

The Wantage, New Jersey, native (High Point Regional HS) is one of the top tight end prospects in this year's draft class after an outstanding career with the Blue Hens.

"It's extremely exciting, for me and for my family," Boyle tells KYW Newsradio. "Going through the whole process I did the last two months, it was really kind of eye-opening, really interesting in the way where when you're younger, you don't really know if you're going to be there when you're older. I had the opportunity to actually go to the combine, play in the Senior Bowl, participate in Delaware's Pro Day. All three events were awesome, I learned a lot from the whole process and met a lot of cool people on the way, too."

Boyle caught 37 passes and served as a team captain as a senior, this after logging 42 receptions, including a career high 7 touchdowns, as a junior.

The 6'6", 270-pounder feels his versatility helps set his game apart.

"I can do a lot of different things on the football field," Boyle says. "Whether it be line up on the line of scrimmage and block for the run, line up on the line of scrimmage release and go, be a threat in the passing game. Also line up as like a fullback, which I did at the senior bowl sometimes and be able to iso-block on linebackers or block for a screen out (in a) four wide receiver (set). So I think there's a lot of different things that I can do at a lot of different positions on the field that a lot of people can't do."

The NFL Draft is now a three-day affair that begins on April 30th and that's a long time with tension building, waiting to see if your name is called. So how will Boyle handle the waiting?

"I'll probably watch," Boyle says. "But on the third day of the draft I have my cousin's communion, so I'll be at the church.  Hopefully it starts a little bit before the draft, but if not, I still have to go to my cousin's communion. Family first."
