At Rutgers-Camden, Law Students Analyze LGBT Fears of Police Encounters

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- Law students at the Camden campus of Rutgers University held a forum today examining the concerns of the LGBT community over policing tactics.
African-American men aren't the only ones being profiled and singled out for enhanced attention by police, noted organizer Ryann Aaron (below), with the law school's LGBT organization, which calls itself OutLaws.

"We really just want this to be an experience where people can get more education about some of the issues facing those (LGBT) communities by the police," he told the attendees.
Gays, lesbians, and particularly transgendered people believe police are singling them out, it was noted. Some say that better understanding by both sides is the answer, while others say police tactics have to be reined in.
One group of people absent from this session: law enforcement. Aaron concedes he didn't invite police to this event.
