Phillies Open Weekend Series With Nationals Tonight

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- After dropping two out of three to the Boston Red Sox to open the 2015 season, the Phillies now turn their attention to an NL East rival as the Washington Nationals come to town for a weekend set that begins tonight.

The Phillies lost the rubber game of their series with the Red Sox last night, 6-2, as David Buchanan gave up all six runs in three innings of work.

The offense continues to struggle for Ryne Sandberg's squad. They have scored just 6 runs, total, in 3 games and they are hitting just .149 as a team here in the early going.

Jerome Williams makes his first start of the season for the Phillies. He did a very nice job after being claimed off waivers last season, going 4-2 in 9 starts with a 2.83 ERA. But he really struggled this spring, going 0-4 in 6 appearances with a 7.40 ERA.

The Nationals will start veteran left-hander Gio Gonzalez who went 10-10 last season.

The Phillies lineup for tonight looks a little different as they prepare to face a left-handed starter for the first time this season:

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Corey Seidman of CSNPhilly.com and PhilliesNation.com about the Phils start and tonight's match-up.
