Soul Bring 2-0 Mark Into Sunday's Home Opener

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- After starting the season with wins in two hostile environments, the Philadelphia Soul will play their first home game of the 2015 season on Sunday as they welcome the Jacksonville Sharks to South Philadelphia.

Philadelphia's second win of the season came this past Saturday in Spokane as the Soul took care of the Shock, 54-43.

"Anytime you can go out to Spokane and get a win, it's tough to do," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "I know it's just kind of words to a lot of people that have never been in that environment, but I've taken the better team into that place twice and come out with about 25-point loss, on average, both times. It was no different. We had a better team than they did this week, but (we) actually finished them off and played well and got a win. That's all we were asking for."

The Soul defense forced key turnovers against the Shock and the offense continues to get great play from quarterback Dan Raudabaugh and the receiving corps, led by Marco Thomas and Ryan McDaniel.

"We're just playing catch," Dolezel says. "Dan's doing a good job of distributing the football. We've got three different receivers with a bunch of different catches, four with touchdowns. So the guys are stepping up, they're still learning."

Raudabaugh has thrown 14 touchdowns with just 2 interceptions through the season's first two games. Thomas already has 28 catches for 300 yards and 4 scores this season while McDaniel has 18 catches for 243 yards and he has scored five times.

Jacksonville is off to an 0-2 start as they come to town, but Dolezel says that record doesn't tell the whole story.

"Very talented team that's not really playing to their potential, yet," Dolezel says. "They've got a lot of new faces on their team and a lot of their new faces are our old faces. So we know what's coming into town, they're a good football team, they're well-coached, as usual. So we know it's going to be a battle. That 0-2 record means nothing."

Sunday's game at the Center gets underway at 4:00pm.
