Josh Shapiro Named Chairman Of The Pa. Commission Of Crime And Deliquency By Gov. Wolf

By Jim Melwert

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- The chairman of the Montgomery County Commissioners is being tapped by Governor Tom Wolf.

Governor Wolf has named Montgomery County commissioner Josh Shapiro chairman of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

Shapiro calls it an honor and explains the commission's goals:

"PCCD allocates nearly $100,000,000 in funding to help make our communities safer, to be advocates for victims, to protect our young people in our communities, and I'm looking forward to having the chance to work with people all across Pennsylvania."

An example of PCCD's work, "The growing epidemic of heroin and opioid overdoses here in Montgomery County and it's an issue all across Pennsylvania, particularly here in southeastern Pennsylvania, PCCD would be the type of thing that could come step in and help address that."
